im pretty sure it the g. tile, which my buddies had that lived for years in freshwater. but i dont know for sure cause i dont have a picture with me but ill find one that looks like it online

That is a G. Tile, and is not a freshwater species. It may live for weeks or months in freshwater but it will not be healthy and will eventually die if not in brackish water.

Aside from the eel not being a freshwater eel, I think that the stocking in your tank might be causing the eel to be stressed. It sounds like you have a lot of fish in a very active tank, and that won't work well when trying to get a new smaller fish to eat.

my buddies had luck with theirs for years in freshwater, and no problems. i dont have much active fish either. im stil nervous with the damn eel man.
 
My honest opinion is that you take it back or set up a 55-75 gallon brackish tank for it and acclimate it. The G. Tile doesn't get nearly as big as the other similar morays and being a flexible eel it should be fine in one of those tanks, preferably the 75.

i will prob take it back to my lfs, but i guess when i called them asking why they sold me a "fw" but it really wasnt they said this type lives in all types of water came from india, and i said he hasnt eaten since i got him, about 2 weeks they said ago, which would mean he would be dead and he isnt. so im guessing hes been eating

Eels can go hunger strike for months, My saltwater Eels sometime didn't eat anything for good 3 months and there is a guy ignore his saltwater tank for almost a year and the Eels in there still alive (he wasn't aware that the Eels still exist in his tank). And like I said in early post that LFS won't admit their faulty information cause they need to make money, it's bad for his business if they confirm it's a brackish water fish then none of his Eels gonna sell since "brackish water" sound complicated than a "normal" ready fresh water that everyone use at home daily.

So many things wrong here. Yes, the eel is found in all different types of water, from freshwater all the way up to marine, however, as an adult, they need brackish or full marine. The juvies are found in freshwater because, like a lot of "freshwater" fish that are actually brackish, it is believed that they spawn in freshwater and then the juvies live part of their life in the freshwater before venturing into brackish or marine conditions. Just because it was caught in freshwater, doesn't mean it is actually a freshwater fish.

Next, as a LFS owner/employee, the person you spoke with should know that it's entirely possible for a fish to live for several weeks, even months, without eating. Generally, the smaller the fish the less time they can go without eating. It is very possible, and given the stocking of your tank I would say probable, that the eel has not eaten anything. There are many members on here that lose new fish simply because the fish never settles in and starts eating.

I would not rely on anything further that the people at that LFS have to say without doing some independent research to confirm that what they are saying is actually true. They sound like the type of people that will sell a red tail cat to a ten year old with a ten gallon tank and tell him that "the fish will stay small as long as it's in the small tank."
