Picked up a small 1.5 inch delhezi yesterday and I noticed today that he just floats at the top, he doesn't seem to be moving one of his fins and that makes it to where he swims like a fish outa water, any ideas?

You may want to move this under polypterus for better answers.

I don't know too much about bichirs, but I've encountered the same issue. My 3" Sen did the same thing the first couple of days I got him. He eventually quit, and now he acts normally. If this is a common behavior, yours should stop after a few days.

Will do.. I'm just worried his fin is damaged and may not recover, iv never seen a bichir want to stay at the top though, he'll sink down and thrash until he's back at the top just flowing with the current.

Please post in the bichir/ancient section. Lots of times small bichirs will swim around the top to get air. Post some pics with water parameters as well. Tank size. Could be trapped air and some epsom salt will help as well 1tbsp per 5 g.

Sorry I couldn't figure out how to move post, he died the next night I got him, tank was cycled with media from a tank that's been running for 8 months, water was all good I just think he was inured from the store and I didn't realize it over my excitement, I messaged the store and I'll be taking him back tomorrow to see if I can get another one or at least get my money back, 25$ for a 1.5 inch fish to die in a day is kinda rediculous

Bummer. They should credit you as long as you bring the fish and a water sample in.
