You should document it with pics on this thread for those that to go into the filtration section to see. May help them with future set ups.

Did you start rounding up the plumbing supplies ?
Going to start buying pipes in the weekend. I did some measurments already for the pipe, but it might change depends on what im going to use, drain pipe im going for 1.5" for both, return im still thinking if ill go 1"or 1.5", i read somewher that using a 1.5" for return might lose some gph cause its going to have air between the pipe vs a 1" where the pump will just keep pushing water up like a siphon.

Just use the 1 inch for the return. Its really isnt gph that you loose, its velocity. Its like a river flowing nice and smooth but when it gets to a narrow run the water is forced to go through a smaller opening and becomes turbulent.

When you set the return up your gonna put a union on the length of pipe thst runs down the back of the tank. That will allow you to adjust the direction of the return water. Looosen the union turn/twist the return pipe in the tank then re-tighten the union.

If you angle the return to to hit the front glass it will create a mini whirl pool affect and will help push waste off the substrate and up to the overflow.

magpie magpie finally got some water lettuce:)

Thanks bro, i will do that, i got all the pipe, union and elbow today, i started to cut some pipes but needed to stop cause it started raining.

The water lettuce is in my sons tank in the 65g, i wont put it in the 180g till i fix all the filter, and i need a piece of eggcrate to stop the plants going in to the overflow.

Pick up some 1.5 inch unions as well. Also the cement is used for abs. Im sure it will work but i'd rather use cement made foe pvc and get thr primer too. It will help give a better seal.
