Haha, I would be nervous too. I haven't tried venting any fish yet. But I remember how shaky my hands were the first year my fantails had hookworms and I had to pull them off with tweezers. I was so afraid I was going to stab them if they wiggled suddenly. Lol. Now I handle my fish by hand more often then netting them. It's faster, easier, and I think less stressful for us both. Haha

Sounds like you have a good plan going:)
So I'm going to get rid of this one now for sure, bc I got one that looks to be male and this one is giving it a hard time already
Chasing and flaring which can be aggression or courting but she's way bigger and I'm not gnna risk him not growing to full potential

That's too bad it's not welcoming the new gt well.
Glad you were able to get one you feel more confident about being a male though!

I'm going to check out a potential male today. I've only seen a kinda crummy 5second video so I'm eager to see it in person.

Hmmmm..... I think you are right. That looks more rounded then pointy. Hopefully the orange in the tail comes back.
Its still very pretty either way:)

I'm confident the seam on the caudal fin will come back. I've experienced that first hand, only there was no colour when I bought the fish, and now is got a very nice one.

I actually think that is a male. But I'm no expert.

My two subdominant GT from that batch are doing the same thing. Lost color in tail band. They were under a lot of stress from the dominant male though. I've seen this with juveniles many times in the past where they go through some sort of transition Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 can you tell here m / f? I'm not a great judge but looks male to me

I'm not a great judge either. Lol the fins say male but up close it looks like that could be an egg tube. Does it look rounded to anyone else? Or is it just me. Haha

It's way pointier than the one I got rid of so makes me think it's a male with his junk out. Doesn't look as round but it's hard to tell without a magnifying glass

I'm hoping for a male as well as the vent looks pointy
And the tail band was reason why I got this one so I'm hoping it comes back maybe it faded bc it's not the dominant fish in the tank
