Debate semantics on your own time. Big fish go in big tanks or ponds. Please don't talk about logic illogically. There are plenty of fish that have very small territories in the wild. There are also fish that need a lot of room despite their size. I have tanks in my home. I also have a pond that's about an acre square. I have fish I put in both.

How is it dumb? A fish in a tank that's too small is a terrible thing. Keeping cold water natives with tropicals is a bad call. They have different requirements not to mention the risks of parasites. Larger predatory fish need more room in the wild they roam over very large territories.

So, you're declaring that you've figured out the standard for "fish size per gallon rule"? That guys like vincentwugwg vincentwugwg and A arapaimag are terrible people for housing such large specimens in enclosures that's not even remotely close to these specimens natural territorial area/range in the wild?

I have no idea what you're talking about. If a fish can't turn in a tank too small it will develop a spinal deformity. If the tank is too shallow it's tail will scrape the bottom as it tries to feed. Eventually it has to bend it's whole body to reach the surface with it's mouth. Not to mention the whole enlarged organs in stunted body thing. I've seen this working at a pet store plenty of "experts" would drop off their S and C shaped "babies" to pick up more victims to destroy slowly. They've been keeping fish for 20 years and obviously know their business. I hated selling RTC's, aro's irridescents, pacu's, umbee, dovii, giant gouramy aquatic turtles ect. because few people have the facilities to house them responsibly. If you have the space go for it. If you don't -there are other stock options suitable for what you have to work with. Lungfish for example don't have the same space requirements as most monsters but still need room to turn Big fish= big tank PERIOD
