I've never had the pleasure of keeping one but I remember there used to be a small one in a tank at Sharkaquarium back before they shut down.It was one of those things where there was zero interest in the fish as it was there for quite a while and I would see it at every visit.I told myself I would bring it home one of these days but the shop has shut down.I wonder what became of it.

There's very little info online. Awesome looking cats. Rally have a fave that only a mother could love lol.

You should have brought him!

Mate where on earth are you getting all these cool fish from?????
Friends in high places haha. There's a few coming in. Want one? I'm off to pick up a Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii this week aswell and a Nile Perch.

That's me compelated stock wise then, ive spent far to much and I need to get my bigger pond set up now.

I got three supposed ones from Jeff Rapps mid March 2017. They may not be it as there appear to exist at least several other very similar-looking catfish when they are small. I am still a bit confused and at the moment I think I will only rest assured when mine break 1', better 2'.

ID thread on PCF: https://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=44864

Mine came in tiny and very slender at ~2". They are currently about 3"-4" and got some bulk. Eat well pellets and cut fish.

Great info as usual victor.

Although I did Abit of searching around and came across some videos of some larger specimens between 12-20". Do they lose the lovely silver shine as they grow? As the large fish ive seen don't seem to have it. Unless there wrongly identified.

I'd probably place more trust (still not 100%) in correct IDs and pics on PlanetCatfish, ScotCat, and FishBase. They show cats of various sizes and ages. I'd not know anything beyond these pics.

The filmed shine can strongly depend on the fish condition, filming, lighting, diet, water quality, etc. I fathom.

My impression is that they don't have the dorado catfish metallic shin appearance, just a general shiny glossy catfish skin but you perhaps stared and researched more and moreover, our perceptions surely can vary.

It's more then likely they vary depending on such locations.

How are they aggression wise? I think I'll be taking the plunge and having one.

I've also had a brachyplatystoma filamentosum arrive the other week, although it scream brachyplatystoma capapretum (as expected) apart from its mouth seems more flat then what the capapretum Id says. If I message you some pictures over of the front of the fish would you be willing to have a look and see what you think.

My trio appears mellow and doesn't bother any other fish. They don't seem to have a liking for each other though.

I think the more eyes look at your pics, the better. We have other people here who'd be more helpful than I but I will chip in, of course. Pics permitting.
