Wow that is interesting. Its odd that it wouldnt get hungry enough to seek out food.I've kept two of these guys now. If there's no competition, they both seemed to eventually find the food once it got good and stinky. If there was something else after the food, they basically never got it on their own unless it happened to hit their barbels by pure luck and trigger a feeding response. That didn't happen very often, however.

They're natural behavior is to be a sit and wait ambush predator, and they're not well suited for hunting. When they get really hungry, they'll dash around the tank looking for food that they can smell, but they have a hard time finding it when it's just sitting there. They're more sight based than most other catfish it would seem, and fast moving things can trigger a feeding response. Hell my current one will sometimes chase a laser lol
