Hello MFK! I'm in the process of building my first fish rack. The rack will consist of 5-10g, 5-29g and 1-100g rubbermaid. They will all be connected using a central filtration system. What size pump should I be looking at to filter this system?

I'm using a lifegard quiet one 2200 (594 gph) on a 200ish gallon rack (90g, 12x 5.5g, 55g sump). If I had it to do over I'd up it to the 4000 (1022gph)... it works fine with the smaller pump, I'd go with the bigger one in retrospect mainly to sweep bichir poop into the overflow faster!

PS: check out my build in my signature

Doubles PS... go big and adjust the flow into the sump. In my build I'm hamstrung by "what's on hand".

Check out the jebao pumps. Dcp is the latest model (i think) im using the dct series and love.

Fish Tank Travis Fish Tank Travis did a nice write up on his. Search his threads.

They are adjustable (gph), quiet, energy efficient and cheap

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Those jebao pumps look nice. The dcp 10,000 is 100 bucks on amazon and has a max flow of around 2,600 GPH, more than I'll ever need. I like the idea of having a bigger pump and dialing it down so I have extra power if I ever need it.

you should shoot for 6-10 turn overs per hour, 1800 to 3000 gph. This also depends on what you have in the tanks also. Then you want to up from there for the extra GPH so that your not running full on 24/7

Im not sure how you plan on plumbing it but if possible can you get two pumps that way you would have a little redundancy and get use them on the lower end of the spectrum.

Two pumps would be possible but one would be easier. I'm going to try and add a canister area full of bio media. All the tanks will be bare bottom that's why. I did read up on how ideally you shouldn't run your pump full power 24/7 So maybe I should be looking at pumps in the 4,000 to 5,000 GPH range?

A guy on here got ahold of a few DCP 18000's, which are near 5000gph. They were a lot more than $100 though.
