And a mental fish he is too lol always jumping. I've got some val on the right, it spread out a bit when I first put it in but it doesn't seem to be growing in height at all, hoping an investment in better lights might help that.

Mine was like that too.

What's your water's Gh? It grows best over 5-7 degrees general hardness

my water's classed as moderately hard so right around there. He's grown from the size of a guppy to about 7-8" in about 10 months so not too bad.

Vallis should work then...

Mine went from 1" to 4.5" in a few months, ended up selling him. Lovely fish :)

the first one I had got eaten by my 1 of my polys so grew this one out in a guppy tank for a bit first. wifey won't let me use it as a grow out anymore though, I keep decimating her guppy stock.

Wow that is amazing love em all its overstock is it usually fine to overstock tank with bichirs i hear its ok
