Duanes - I understand and get where your coming from, and the videos do portray what your saying. I think i now agree with not mixing my JD with a RT/GT but i feel like i need something to fill the space.

Themonkeytank - Great suggestions! Would a delhezi be a better option as a sub-type bichir. I don't think I can give up my Jack dempsy as as much as she might cause me trouble, I cant bring myself to think about replacing her.

A delhezi could work as they r quite small but if you want the other fish like geo s I would monitor her aggression if she's a female she Is luckily most likely less aggressive but CA cichlids are on a whole different level.of aggression to south America

If you want to fill space in the JD tank, a shoal of sailfish mollies, gambusia, or large swordtails would be geographically correct, and grow large enough to "probably not be eaten, and make JDs feel secure.
And although Rhamdia catfish are not normally available, there are a number of similar appearing types around.
sailfish (or velifora) mollies

Xenatoca eiseni, another Mexican live bearer

and there are many "not so big" catfish out there
Although these Synodontus are not geographically correct(being African) they are an example of a reasonable cat, similar to the Cenote catfish that live with JDs in nature.

below the real Cenote cats, that share Cenote Cristalino

The JD can be a hit or miss, I have mine in a 150 gal. and has to be divided because he tried to kill everything else including a pair of 1inch smaller green terror(he absolutely wrecked them) If youre talking about a red terror its a completely different fish than the green terror, a festae(RT) can get way bigger so it cannot be an option. With the rest i can't really help you, just be ready to divide the JD if you have to
