Horrible indeed. Sorry this happened to you. Thinking back to my 20s and the things myself and the groups I hung with at the time saw, did, etc.. I can see this being an issue. I wouldn't keep another tank unless you can keep it secured, away from party goers.

Prolly a good reason I didn't keep any tanks from ages ~18-42. LOL

Sorry for your loss. That sounds like a horrible Christmas.

I was sad that my favorite betta died... It was way below freezing outside so I couldn't bury him like I wanted to, so I just had to flush him ;(
at least christmas day was better.

Haha my solution to the problem is no more parties. I lost two young healthy fish in 24hrs because of drunk idiots, the only alcohol that's allowed in my house now is rubbing alcohol.


What's getting to me most is that apparently no one had paid any attention to the fish tanks until Miles swam to the front of the tank to "talk" to people and someone noticed him. If I had an antisocial betta I'd still have all the members of Team Rocket (I'm a Pokémon fan. The loaches were Jessie, James and Meowth - R.I.P Meowth) and Miles would still be greeting me when I walk past the tank.

My housemate offered to get me a new betta and loach when I'm ready because he feels terrible, I might take him up on the loach (I guess this one will have to be wobbuffet...) but I think I'm done with bettas for a while..

Yup.. Unfortunately I feel this is true for a lot of people.

This is part of the reason I don't really drink,I used to live in a house where there were some mean drunks who would pick on my dog,so I mentioned that if anyone messed with the dog I would disembowel them with the kukri and jump rope with their entrails (I said this while fiddling with my knife and meant it,though I kept my voice and demeanor casual) they didn't mess with my dogs again
