I change them every 2-3 daysI like the filter sock idea, but do you have to change 200 micron ones EVERY day? Also, what's the name of the media in the middle?

What size are the socks?I have two nylon 225 micron filter socks in my sump and it clogs up every other day. Is that normal? I have 6 NW cichlids in my 90g.
4 inch diameter and i think 14 inch lengthWhat size are the socks?
Just make sure your sump is able to take the water if the power goes out till the syphon breaks and your tank can take the water from your sump when it starts up again or you'll have an overflow issue. Drilling your tank really isn't hard, its worth it if your doing a sump.I didn't want to drill my tank so to get the water to the sump I made a double syphon I found on the internet, plz excuse the very poor drawing.

Just looked at the pics again. I see how it works now. Its quite an interesting contraption.its a double syphon if the pump stops it wont drain back, its hard to explain but works very well. Drilling tanks is a risk I didn't want to take, it can go wrong. This was the cheapest and safest way I could find to get a sump to work on my tank. Not sure how it affects but old glass is also more brittle
