My 26" silver aro has stopped eating since last Friday, and has been taking gulps of air from the surface way more than normal. Noticed bubbles being expelled from the vent. Any ideas? It's in a 8 × 4 × 2 with rays, and a dat. K1 filtration, drip system, temp 82, amm. 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 40-80. Anyone seen this before? He's been a big eater up till now. Had him almost 2 years with no prior issues. Raised from a baby.

Did you test pH? It sounds more like illness than a water quality issue though. I'd start looking for a vet. I can only speculate wildly.

My pHone stays at 7.8. Not concerned with water quality. My rays are an indicator of wq being fine. They are the first to show issues if anything is out of wack. Charney Charney RD. RD. JK47 JK47 Dieselhybrid Dieselhybrid Hao Hao

Sorry amigo, wish I could help. I've never run across anything quite like that.

Swallowing air straight through? Corydoras catfish can absorb air through their intestinal lining if I recall correctly... Do aros ever breathe air in any way?

Maybe there's a blockage. Just speculation tho.
Trying to find a fish vet local might be the best option.

Sorry to hear this Travis. That may be a digestive issue but I am speculating at best. Prazi would help clear out anything that may be blocking the digestive track but I am sure there are better meds to use once you know what it really is.
