Is activated charcoal powder (medicinal quality) ever used for digestive problems like this in fish?

Hey bro sorry your going through this. I second the epsom salts.
Espom salts act as a laxative. We see this allot with polys. They get trapped air or blockages and the epsom salts help them expel it.
Might be whats bothering the aro but worth a try and is harmless to the fish.

In this case the aro was treated with epsom, and by a local to release air, and later died. Turns out the fish was egg bound.

Impaction from eggs can sometimes lead to complications that can ultimately lead to death in the fish. I have experienced this once over the years, but I never saw any air being expelled from the vent. It also wasn't an aro, but a cichlid, so initially I didn't want to take a wild guess. Just thought that I would toss this potential scenario in to the mix as the fish in the link was an aro.

I might have figured out what happened. Today while doing a water change I noticed a puncture in the pharyngal pouch on the aro. I had noticed the female marbles barb missing venom from the tip, and figured she'd hit the male again due to his pestering. It's the right size and shape puncture to be a ray sting. I think the aro has been gulping air to relieve the pain. Still not eating, but looks healthy otherwise. Hopefully will recover.
