Community/schooling/peaceful tank (unheated)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So I have an empty 75 gal and was thinking of what to do with it.

Id like to do either a peaceful community or some sort of schooling species. The tank is going to be temperate/unheated. Room temp would probably be somewhere between 65 and 78.

The possibilities are peppered corys, zebra danios, buenos ares tetra, flagfish, Rosy barbs, Danio margaritatus (celestial pearl danio) and mascara/filament Barb's.

20 danio margaritatus and some corys would be cool. Also like red ceibals but do want to do more of a small schooling peaceful scheme.

What would you guys stock it with ? Remember has to be able to live in cooler waters.

Will the temperature more likely be towards the 65 deg end, 78 deg end. This would make a big difference. Reason being that a lot of natives (particularly in my area) that a good for schooling would have a max temp of 70ish. Do you want to collect yourself or purchase them?

I would be purchasing bit to be honest I'm not into the native thing lmao if there was an UNLIKE button Deadliestviper7 Deadliestviper7 would be mashing it right now.

Im trying to source Australoheros red ceibal but so far have nothing to show for it.

I'm going to fill and take some temp reading gs to see where it ends up

But we got flatheads, blues, sturgeons, gars, bass, bowfins and other REAL monsters that could eat any of your wimpy African fish. Ha! the biggest thing on your whole continent is the Nile Perch.
Europe's got the Wels, Asia the SH, Beluga, and Mekong Giant, SA the 'Pima and Piraiba, we've got gars, paddlefish, tarpons, blues, Sturgeon, and flatheads, the Aussies have Barramundies, and sawfish and you guys haven't got a single big fish on your entire measly continent unless you count the crocs and elephants 'cause all tetrapods are really fish deep down. :p

No, it's revenge.

And our natives are cooler, our catfish eat coyotes.

Fine haha.

I'm liking the idea of this tank. My favourite idea is a subtropical Asian tank. Paradise fish, cooler water barbs and some loaches.

Hillstreams are also an option! Look at hillstream loaches and riverine gobies. Apparently they are tonnes of fun to keep and would appreciate the lower temps :)

I like paradise fish had a planted with one yes ago. I love Barb's as well Rosy would do

Rapps doesn't see and ceibals coming in any time soon shame.

Also thinking about doing a large group of celestial pearl danios
