Keep doing water changes and if he hasn’t returned to normal them I’ll say he’s stressed out and needs more places to hide and claim territory

Wouldn't say ruling it out, I'd keep an eye out for any other symptoms. I would give him some floating plants or décor in the top portion of the tank and see if that helps, if he doesn't return to normal something else could be wrong, hard to say what at this point
