So are you saying if I didnt care too much about these fish (just bought them to cycle) that I could feed them more to speed up the ammonia production?

Thank you Mathew.
I suggested feeding Less to give the bacteria a chance to keep up with the ammonia produced so that you wouldn’t get wild spikes while cycling. Different fish are sensitive to ammonia at different levels. My method keeps the ammonia low while cycling to keep the fish healthy since that’s the most important part. That’s exactly why i started fishless cycling in the first place. Fishless is faster and gives you time to source the fish you want to stock. I do the 4ppm ammonia method which allows you to fully stock your tank once it’s cycled.

Gotchu, I was just trying to be funny and be serious at the same time.
I just actually need to be patient and be responsible for the fish that are in my tank.

Man when i tell you it’s hard. It’s TOUGH!!!!!!! The only thing that made I better for me is I couldn’t find the fish I was looking for. I was finally able to order them after the cycle completed so I just kept dosing ammonia until the fish arrived. Did two huge water changes and dropped them in and they were good. If I were able to get the fish immediately, I probably would have folded under pressure as well hahahahahaha

Lol, i just need to stay out of my lfs for now. I go in at least twice a week.
The next time I go in I need to hit him up for some mature filter media.

Yeah going in the LFS is a set up lol. Some seeded media will cut your cycle down from weeks to days for sure

Omg for the first 2-3 months of going to lfs when I was getting back I would drop at least $100 each visit. I think my first 2 months cost $2k.

I only have a 55g so if I start spending that kinda cash, Ill know im doing something wrong.
That’s how it all starts..
Day1-70 gal- loving life, got new fish woohoo
Week 2- fish trying to kill each other- $30 for a 30 gal set up from kijiji
Next day heater dies- replacement-$50
Bio load filter media and cartridges-$80
Next day fish dies even though you got the hospital tank for $30(lol)
1 month later fish is already too big for 70 gal
$500 for 180 gal from kijiji....

Now imagine how the first 30 gal for $30 ended up costing almost $200 all said and done..

It took almost 3 months to get the 180 gal all set up and running properly, including you guessed it, another new heater. Lol

LMAO! I really do picture this happening.
In the late 90s to early 2000's I had at least a 1000 gallons of tank space (spread out over many tanks) And to be honest there was always another new expense that was necessary but really wasnt, but I got it anyway cause I justified it as "needed"
