Depends on if your green terror is mean or not IMO. Green terror might decide it doesn't want to live with all those little friendly fish. Replacing green terror with a blue acara would make it a more sure bet.
I see you said the 50 gallon would be for wet pet of your dreams, any ideas so far? 50 would be too small for many of the common "wet pets" like midas/red devil, parachormis, etc. Could house a male cabuya convict, that would probably be biggest fish I'd keep in a 50 for life.

And I have used the SunSun canister filter. I had it for a couple years and had zero problems with it, I liked mine. However I know a couple members have posted that theirs sprang leaks.
I'll have to look into the blue acara big thing is I want at least one good sised fish sense everything my wife wants is small or to big. Are there any other more timid fish that don't need a school and are on the larger side?

For the 50 the plan is a gulper catfish right now.

I've heard the same on the sunsun but also have heard that they have fixed some issues.

Thanks for pointing me to blue acara I will do this in-place of the green terror and probably more than 1. how easy are they to come across? I have seen plenty of green terrors at my LFS but I haven't noticed any of these. It is possible I just thought it was a green terror.

Flint town!
All my lfs are loaded with electric blue acara. Great choice for a fish. A trio would be nice just make sure 1m2f or you'll end up with a pair if you have 2m1f, if you get 3m you'll end up with 1. Acara get about the same size as a green terror little smaller. You really have a lot of options. Look into geophagus topajo ,stay smaller for a geo probably the size you are looking for, lots of color use sand as substrate and they will keep it clean. Just another option.
Barbs will destroy plants. Look into tetras they are better for planted tanks some will still mess with plants but most won't. Or danios are pretty relaxed with plants too.
The eels will get pretty big probably to big in the long run for your 100g.
Hope That info helps a bit.

Thanks for the info i was thinking 1m 2f like you suggested. the plan was to use silica sand for substrate. Have to keep the barbs my wife has absolutely fallen in love with them. Are there any specific plants that the barbs wont completely destroy? I have a 150 gallon (could also lead to a larger plywood build) in storage I plan to put up at some point if the eels get to big.

Are the electric blue acara the more tin foil looking ones? If so I think I like the standard ones better.

Yeah the wild are more difficult to come across, the "electric blue" are everywhere, I personally prefer the wild type as well. But may be difficult to find. They do not get the same size as a green terror, they get maybe half the size, if that. GT can get to 12", blue acara around 6". I do agree with 2 females being better way to go.
The eels you mention are peacock eels, which will not get too large for your tank. The fire eel would get huge, the peacock spiny eels stay small however.

Biggest eb acara I've ever seen was 8 in, but most get 4-6 or so.
