On the best placement for my marinepure 8"X4" block now I have it in aquaclear 110's with half the block and the spheres both exposed to air!
Is this the best way to use this media or should it all just be underwater in the filter?
Thanks in advance mfk'er filter bros!

I would build an small trickle filter instead for the spheres and block and use the aquaclear for mechanical filtration only. But thats just me and im a big fan och trickle filters

Hey bro, with my experience with the Marine blocks, they do better in slow flow. If you have sump I’d put it in the middle jam packed between other media’s. As the manufacturer recommend, they produce I forgot which bac that eats the waste in slow flow. I’ve also seen people use it in a trickle system

They do great in tricklesystems because of thier porosity. I plan on ordering some myself for the tricklefilter on my raytank. But they are really expencive to buy here in sweden.

Thanks for the advice!
I don't have any options for a sump or trickle filter.
I have a 125 and the 2X ac110's and small eheim 350 sitting next to the tank with the marinepure in everything.
Maybe if I slow down the flow that could help the colonization?
I really thought the air and water combination would be the bomb filter...

A tricklefilter is easy to DIY.

If the water and air are both going thru the media wouldn't that be the same concept as a sump with the media exposed to air and the bacteria thriving?

Yes .. but don’t agitate it too much keep it really gentle .... it can cause the Marine pure to erode away.
