Really?....then perhaps something a little more modern is in order.

Hello; When I was a child I wrote letters to Santa with all my Christmas wish list stuff. I usually did not get much from the list. I do not recall what my parents told me about why I did not get all the stuff I wanted. Maybe I was too busy playing with the few things I did get.

Of course in time, before I was ten, I found out that it was my parents who were buying stuff for Christmas. I also eventually began to understand that my dad did not make a lot of money. I had a friend who got lots of Christmas stuff. His dad owned a coal mine. I am not real sure but think back in the early 1950's that credit cards were not around for common folks and I also do not think that anyone actually took out loans to buy Christmas toys. We had to spend what was earned week to week and only had extra if those earnings were not all spent.

I recall my mom and dad sitting at the kitchen table talking about "bills". Mom worried and dad went out and took on extra work when he could. Now days I guess they would load up a lot of plastic. I know my dad did in the years just before his death. He died owing a lot on credit cards.
My mom also owed a lot on credit cards and a house loan when she died. I was able to get her debt paid off by selling her home.

Near as I can tell there are now folks ( I guess they can be called socialist) (S-folks for my post purpose) who picture some imagined pile of wealth existing that is being hoarded and kept from them.
They seem to have a couple of lines of thought. One is that if some how other folks do have wealth saved up that then the S-folks somehow deserve a portion of that wealth. I guess just because they want it for some stuff of their own desires.

Another notion is that this "imagined pile of wealth" does actually exist and they must feel it is so enormous that it will never run out. There have been a couple of countries that had something approaching such an amount of wealth. (The wealth was not unlimited of course) One was a South American country which had a lot of oil reserves. Best as I can tell they took the socialism path. I will not get into all that but as of the last few years that path has not worked out.

I guess the point I am trying to make is when I was a young child I made out a Christmas wish list. I grew up some and before I was ten years old I knew there is not a real santa. I stopped wishing for things. I did not tell my little sister and brother what I knew right away. It was still fun to see them on Christmas day for a few years. They grew up also. Maybe today some folks do not have to grow up???
