It's Spiderwood. You might be thinking of Manzanita, which is darker, I think.

Haha for now. I need to find much bigger pieces for my 100 gal for when he grows up. He's only about 5" right now

This is the original video I saw that made me want a bichir. The scape is gorgeous and they look so happy in it.

Acacia and oak provide great branches,you can also use eucalyptus branches but they need to be soaked longer before being put in the aquarium, another one you may have access to are dead palm leaves, which don't last as long as wood, but are easy to replace.
