What do you mean when you say " I disagree with you saying that it’s best to rehome the goldfish first then asking what you should put in it."? Im pretty sure if i want to suit there needs I cant keep three of them in a 40 gallon. They naturally grow up to a foot long or more kept in the right conditions. I dont want to stunt there growth. I only asked what i should do with them that is logical? And once i have i want to know what i can put in my tank

Let me put it to you this way.
Scenario 1.
Johnny has a goldfish in a 40 gallon tank. He gives them to someone with a pond and then starts thinking what to put in the now empty fish tank. He doesn’t go out and buy fish within a few days and his bacteria dies and he has to cycle the tanj again.

Scenario 2.
Johnny has a goldfish in a 40 gallon tank. He does research on what fish he wants to put in the tank once the tank is empty. He gives the goldfish to someone with a pond. He then buys the new fish the next day and the bacteria is still alive and he doesn’t have to cycle the tank again.

Definetly. I was planning on getting some ideas on here today before i did anything. Thats why i asked where i should put them, and then asked. Nothing will be final until two or three weeks so i can get things together. I was going to redo the aquascape anyway

Is there a particular type of fish you're interested in? I’m interested in catfish mainly for example.

Also i learned that if i keep objects from the already established tank in a backup tub of water i can cycle the new tank faster because the bacteria clings to the objects. I really admired the water cow goby because of his features which let him camoflage into wood and substrate, then he can attack his prey unexpectingly. I am looking for a sly fish that I can have a good time feeding live baits like crayfish. I would enjoy something that uses its appearances inorder to do what the water cow goby does and has a interesting personality

I disagree with you saying that it’s best to rehome the goldfish first then ask for suggestions on what to put in it because if he does that then he would have an empty tank for potentially weeks or even months depending on the fish he decides he’s going to get. I believe it is better to get the suggestions first.

Also why not make a thread in the introductory part of the site and introduce yourself?
Btw you can get your fake birthday changed to your true birthday by asking a mod. Or instead of pm’ing them you could do this
C Chicxulub and ask him. Chicxulub is a mod.
Good point!

A great fish for your tank would be Tetraodon baileyi. Research that and see if it's something you'd enjoy!
