300 gallon 1/2 inch acrylic... bow issues?

Hi guys,

Found an 300 gallon 1/2 inch acrylic for $600, we filled it up, has no leaks, does have some scratches which can be buffed out as i have some experience doing it in my 150.

My question is in regards to bow, it does bow a little, around 3/8 inch on the center, I would like to know if that would be concern, i would have not posted if it was 1 inch bow which is unacceptable but i am thinking 3/8 would be fine as some of them see some bow in the tank with higher thickness.

What do you guys think?

It’s fine. My 500 gallon tall bows roughly 2” from top and bottom to middle.

Cool, does you think 1/2 inch should be good for 30 inch height and 96 width?

Also, can i ask if this is crazing on the seams, thats like quater inch clear but other quater of the seam is hazy, would like to know if that's going to get worse or no issues.

1st pic looks like an area of seam separation, 2nd pic looks like a good seam. I would strongly recommend clamping that Seam together and applying weldon 4 along it. After that I would buy 1/2” acrylic rods and weld those over every seam on that tank. At 96x30” tall 1/2” is thin. Should have been 3/4” but I’ve seen worse. Easy repair to do. Only take you a few hours

i haven't done any acrylic work in the past, its sounds easy so i can give it a try, do you suggest any good place to buy supplies in US?

Yeah, i wish it was 3/4 would be perfect, i am from thinking whether its worth the $600 price, it does come with stand and canopy, both made of acrylic, i never seen an acrylic stand and canoply so that was surprise.

I’m curious to see the stand and canopy if you don’t mind posting a pic of them? In the U.S I have no idea where to source out acrylic. Google maps “plastic shops near me” and start there.

Sure please find tank pic below, can i ask if i should get the square rod or triangle rod, not sure how triangle rod would meet on the edges, square is much easier to cut.

Yes, I’ve see that before. Aquaview stands are made like that actually. Very nice stands IMO

I have a 7x3x25” tall from 1/2” acrylic. This tank cracked numerous times and I keep repairing it. I only keep 18” of water in it now to keep the bowing and stress down.
