Picked up a 180g second hand a couple days ago. Previous owner had just drained it a week prior (allegedly) after upgrading. According to him no leaks or issues etc. Upon inspection a couple spots have some silicone that doesn’t look great but for the most part it is good. Whether they leak or not the spots will drive me crazy, and the tank is dry and not set up yet because I have been plumbing the overflows and my sump. My question is can I cut out the sections that look bad and silicone them only or do I need to redo the entire tank? To clarify I’m speaking about the silicone inside the tank not between the glass panes. Thanks for any input!

I would personally redo the entire aquarium and if done correctly you can have peace of mind for years.

I think deep down I know I should but since it’s already in the house and an SOB to move I was hoping someone would say otherwise. The remaining seals look great too so it sucks to have to do all of it for a few spots

Are the spots you're worried about in the fillets in the corner between the panes or the silicone between the panes? The fillets aren't really structural and aren't really that big of a deal if they're not perfect. So I wouldn't worry too much about them if it's just a few spots.

It’s the fillets. Between the panes is good all around the tank. There is just places where the silicone is starting to flap on both sides of the front glass. Looks bad so I was going to fix it but not wanting to redo the whole tank because the rest looks great
