My girlfriend and i really want red hook or regular silver dollars to liven the tank up a bit but how many could i get away with if any

Filtration is a marineland c530 and a marinland power head on the other side
Heating 1 250w aqueon pro
Also have a 14in air stone

What is the dimension of the aquarium? The Redhooks would be too large for the aquarium imo. Probably Spotted SD's could work it depends on the length of the aquarium. Silver Dollar's easily spook and will swim into the aquarium glass. I have SD's in my 180 and they swim to one side to other in seconds lol.

Its the 6ft version of the 125 id quarantine in a 45 or 55 first then transfer them

I had 5 Tiger stripped and 6 spotted in with my Oscar Toni. She tried to eat the smallest one but it was just tall enough that she couldn't eat it. So any you get will need to be bigger than the Oscar's mouth and stay that way or risk being a snack. SD's are best in shoals of six or more. Also they will eat any plants you may have. Mine ate a whole leaf of Romaine lettuce every day.
If you do get them stick with Spotted or Tiger stripped they get big enough to not be Oscar treats.

I quarantined my spotted 6 in a 90 and they were spastic. After going to the 450 they are totally chill. Most people keep these fish in far to small of a tank I feel and that is where to reputation comes from
