Earthquakes aren't a concern here. What should I look for when shopping for them? I've seen many that are advertised to hold 100kg per shelf but the steel feels a bit thin and flimsy in the hand

No nothing like that. Look for something advertised to hold 2000+lbs per shelf.

Idk about that. I'd browse around a bit you should be able to find something in the $150-250 range.

The issue with the Chinese steel stand you show is the weak wood shelves provided. You must reinforce them or they will sag.

The steel legs and rails are OK. Just get them level.
