I have a 90 gallon tank and I was wanting to stock it with a Malawi Eye biter and another predator hap (livingstonii?) something else preferably both males. Would that be a problem or must they be overstocked liked mbuna?

No, Predator Haps don't need to be stacked like Mbuna in a tank. However certain varieties of Haps tend to be far more aggessive and conspecific than others. A lot of research needs to be done on your part regarding what Haps you want to keep together. IMO A one on one situation like you suggested probably won't work out in the long run. Most varieties of "any" cichlid wouldn't do well in that scenario.

Would 3 be a bad number?

Depending on how you scape your tank five might be a better number. Go ahead and stock the Eye Biter & Livingstonii or substitute a Venustus. Add an Electric Blue Hap (Fryeri) & Red Fin Borleyi. Top it off with a Red Empress or Tiawan Reef. If you live near Tulsa I can recommend a few Fish Stores.

I am between Oklahoma City and Lawton so I normally go to either or for my fish.
