Sorry for piraiba posting much but wanna make this thread on Suriname variant. So others can make reference in the future how it changes over time & cross reference with other variants. Will make monthly update until it gets 2-3'

Damn thats like 1" a week growthrate. Thats awsome. I dream of a fish like this and one day i will lay my hands on one.

Some sources said Suriname grow faster, indeed they did. It surprises me, or it could just be a growth spurt. You are more than qualified to kept a piraiba catfish. Should definitely get one. They grow slow after reached 2' so no worries lol

Qualified i am. That i know. The problem is the availability on the species here in sweden. I got offered a 70cm suriname some while ago for 5000sek but didnt have that cash then.

What happened to the tail? On 20th May he jumped out of the tank despite having a pvc net cover, who knows for how long. I wasn't there at the time, my dad found him (yes my dad live with me). The dead fins rotted away & grew new ones. Also, coincidentally, the spots came out along with his color become somewhat lighter. Interesting to see his changes over time, who knows what's next. Become leucistic or something LOL
