so my silver arowana is about 8in long i got him about a week ago and i understand that they are surface dwellers but he has literally been sitting at the surface not even a millimeter under the surface and swimming kinda slowly since yesterday.. is this normal or if not whats wrong with him?

my tank was filtered for 2 days before i put him in.. and my ph is 7.0 my kh is 75 my gh is 30 and my ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are all 0
I believe your tank has not cycled. The cycle usually takes 4-6 weeks to complete. You'll need to add Seachem Prime ASAP and do a 30-40% water change daily until the cycle completes.

Silvers are skittish. Could be a form of stress. Would suggest some floating plants and dim the lights if able. Tank isn’t cycled if all are zero. Add some bacteria.

Doesnt look like you have a lot of waterflow, is that correct?
If tank is cycled and parameters good. Waterflow not too strong it may just be acclimating. Agree that lights should be kept low. Any tankmates?

Ph a little high but not sure thats the problem. Thinking lighting. Does it move down at night?
