Added my manzanita stump today. At first he was like “that’s a giant meal” then he just sat there staring at like “wtf is that thing in my home”

Looking forward to how he reacts to it.

I have not posted in a while. I have been insanely busy and desperately need to take new pictures. I got to measure him somewhat yesterday and hes only sitting at around 16in which is a disappointment. He has grown since coming into the tank but not much lengthwise. He is definitely getting thicker though. Gone a couple stunts of not feeding him trying to convert him to other pelllets which problem slows growth. Regardless hes now chomping down about 25 massivore pellets a day.

Hoping to take some pics soon to get them up.

Well life has been extremely busy which means very few updates. This guy has been doing well. Spent about 1.5hr cleaning algae this weekend. The proximity to windows is driving me crazy. Fortunately for me, he ignores me while I clean his tank. I can actually get the brush close to him with no response. I snapped this pic as my youngest daughter was getting into her toy car and he was watching/following her. He is about 19in so ~15in of growth in 2 years. I’m feeding him about 40 massivore pellets every other day. He always seems hungry but I don’t have time to feed him more frequently. I’ll try and get better pics or vids shortly.

I continue to enjoy him. While not extremely active he is active when I come into the room and come to the front and top when I’m near the tank. Hoping I can get him to 24in by end of the year.

From everything I’ve read, they slow down around 24in. Also, its around there that they really start adding girth. I’ve never seen large aimara in person but I’ve been told there is a big difference between a 22in and 24in.

This guy still loves to eat and I could feed him daily if I had time. I expect within the year he’ll shift to the less frequent feeding which is typical with these guys as they get older.

Aren’t many imported at that size and they will cost a pretty penny.

Haha... a heart-melter... she looks a quintessential Russian child! Tell your wife "Молодец!" (molodets = great job), willya?
Will do. It’s hard to keep the Russian going with the kids. My 5 year old went to Russian daycare so was fluent in Russian, English and I was teaching her Greek. Since starting English school she refuses to speak Greek or Russian. Reminds me of my stubbornness as a kid.
