Driftwood sinking

Anybody have an idea or estimation for how long it will take for this piece to sink? It's been in since Saturday am and Ive been rotating it. Trying to get the plants in asap

No estimation on how long it will take to sink naturally but I’ve made my driftwood pieces sink faster by weighing them down so they’re submerged. A nice rock or two should work if you tie them to it.

fishhead0103666 thanks, what type of rocks did you use? I have a stone company right down the road from me. Going to have sevrums and crenicichla in the tank

I weighted down my driftwood using the decor and it took around 2-3 weeks to sink on its own (it's around 45-50cm long to give you an idea). it is still slightly buoyant but not enough to move with the current.

flukeone I might be waiting for awhile than, for scale my tank is 6x2x2 so probably around 120cm in length and 50-60cm in width

well i guess it depends on the wood porosity as well. mine looked pretty dense (was shiny copper colour when dry. kinda bummed it's dark now tbh) so my guess is that it took some time to get soaked.

also heard about boiling the wood but for a piece that size i don't know if it's a viable solution

flukeone Same with this piece, was a light brown/orange color before I dropped it in the water.

I used petrified driftwood since I can get it easily but that’s not likely available to you.
I like flukestone’s idea of using decor, that would work.
You could get a metal trash can to boil the wood if you want to do some extra work?

the newbie in me thought it would keep that colour

anyhow i was also suggested to glue it down but i change my aquascape mind 10 thousand times per day so that was a no-no for me

fishhead0103666 I'm going to head over and check out some large pieces of slate soon. Only 40 cents a pound so I'm hoping to grab a giant chunk or 3
