Small news. In the main tank...
My Severum currently looks like a prize fighter. Don't ask. He'll be fine.
My Choc doesn't like interference with his squabbles. Inciting the BP isn't a good idea, though.
My BP spends most of his day shoving other fish around.
My O is now 2.5" thick. He's built a wall of plants and made a private apartment taking up 1/3 of the tank. There's a branch/vine front door. His bed is a dug out pit in the center. Plants frame the front glass that he peeps through. Everyone gets chased out except the parrot. He's a lot calmer now that he has a defined space. He has space to move because of the tank depth.
Bobo the choc goes to 'bed' at exactly the same time every evening, between 7-8pm, disappearing into the plants. He won't be found until the next morning. He's the only fish I've ever had that does this. The others 'wind down' for a couple of hours before retiring.
The 24/7 light cycle has given my fish more consistent energy and appetite. They rest for hours on end now instead of the 'quick nap/wide awake' pattern under the standard moon lighting. As full evening mode kicks in they suspend almost all activity. As the full darkess mode starts they all disappear in their hidey holes. It's beneficial in another way with my female BP Patch...due to better rest she's far less depleted after egg laying and maintains her body weight much better afterwards. Her recovery was so fast this time she didn't appear to have laid eggs at all!
I'll have to get a finnex strip for my BP Tango, he has a limited light set up right now.
Bobo the choc and the severum Chip are black worm addicts. They're getting picky but went hungry today because I wouldn't cave.
The other day my Oscar snatched tufts of black worms from the mouths of my choc and severum. Just swam right up and pulled the food from their mouth like, "You gonna stop me?" and gulped it down. SAVAGE. ?
Boss the BP has the other 1/3 of the tank for his turf. That leaves 1/3 for everyone else in the middle.
