Dither fish

I posted in another thread about a group of severum that I rescued. However they do a lot of hiding and are showing no color. I was wondering what I should put in for dither fish since all 6 of the sevs are around 6". I want to do roseline sharks but I can find them large enough to not be food. Other fish in the tank are 3 silver dollar, 2 geophagus, and 5 acara.

I would give the Severums more time to settle in the other fish should make them feel at ease and active eventually.

I suggest a deep body Tetra specie if you decide to add more fish.

I am thinking congo or emperor tetra. The background is a 3d brown rock.

The Congo Tetra would be my choice.

My choice would be tetras that inhabit the same waters in South America as severum do, not that the others mentioned wouldn't work.
But because I'm anal about wanting my tanks to look geographically correct.
And since severum are omnivores with a tendency toward vegetarianism, as long as the tetras weren't bite size I wouldn't worry them being eaten, especially in a tank with enough space to use their speed to escape.
Severums are fairly inept at predation in larger tanks anyway.

Great point was going to choose Emporer Tetra but thought of them possibly be eaten.

That's a good point. I'm just worried that emperors would blend to much with the background and Blackwater. Not a real problem but my wife like "pretty fish"
