She is eating the omega one pellets right now (smaller size). I feed her twice a day.

I dont buy the dark substrate being needed to make JD’s darken up. My JD tank has pool filter sand in it and my JD is dark. I think the most important things are dominance and not being stressed with good water and diets.From my limited experience I have observed JDs change colour an awful lot. Either from changes in their environment or even just through developing with age.
A dark substrate, dark background, being boss of the tank and good quality food will bring out the best.
