I obtained this flowerhorn 2 days ago from a dealer, he won't eat and has pretty much non stop had long stringy bead like threads hanging from him. As soon as I got home and reopened his bucket I saw some. Ranging in color from clear whitish to almost cream. Eventually he drops them and then several hours later starts up again. I figured okay worms? Or massive stress? He had a 3 hour ride home. I've been treating him with paraguard and I really don't think anything has changed. He is in a 55 gallon quarantine currently. He's very active and doesn't seem to have any other symptoms other than won't eat although he briefly looked interested & obviously the thing hanging out of him.

Water test results were done while writing this post

Would try adding some Epsom salt 1 tbsp per 5 for now. Stop the paragaurd. Try feeding some hex shield mixed with garlic or bloodworm juice.

If still not eating or enticed to eat then try a bath with metronidazole dissolved in water daily.

I added roughly 1/2 cup of aquarium salt to the tank last night. Should I do a water change and then add the epsom? I will try to get some hex shield today. Not many places are open due to lockdown. With my 50+ fish here I've never seen something like this

Can leave the salt in. No need for the water change.

looks like internal parasites but looks kinda funny. I will use clear but try not to use pazi pro it doesn't seem to work effectively.

All I've done so far is put epsom in his tank. I added a few drops of garlic extreme to the water as he has no desire to eat. Hex Shield is on the way in the mail as I could not find it local. Everything I've researched and red tells me it's internal parasites, the guy I bought him from said his poop has always looked like that which is mildly concerning. He appears to be much better this morning he does not currently have anything hanging from him and (hopefully not just wishful thinking) his hump looks larger and more round

I think the guy already knew he was a sick fish. it looks like internal parasites just started to affect him because he still looks ok but i will treat with meds asap usually they will stave to death and get worse with time
