couldn’t get a video this week but got an awesome picture. Gonna have to enter this in the POTM next month! It’s a shrimp stuffed with bottom dweller carnivore pellets for anyone wondering.

Edit:he still has the white spot on his head any help on that?

For scratches I generally just make sure the water is in the best parameters I can get it so the fish can heal quickly with less stress.

It doesn't look like a cause for concern but for continued observation. Could be an area where there is a little more slime, maybe natural or maybe this area gets rubbed more than others in his liar or the merry-go-round glass licking.

Where can I find this VitaChem stuff at?
It is a commonly carried product by LFSs and online. I buy mine from whoever has it the cheapest atm online - vendors, or Amazon, or Ebay, etc.

Thanks victor! I’m getting some money for my grades so I’ll be able to afford some.

Flint town!
I like the way this is headed. I was concerned as I watched the live feeding of gold fish. So many bad things in goldfish just not worth it to me.
Love the hand feeding vid more of those would be great!
You might want to try some veg based pellets for the stuffing as thats what alot of the gut content would be comprised of for alot prey fish. Would be as good as the vitamin dip or better.
Whole silver sides would be a good hand feed video for sure! Plus probably better nutrition for the gulper.

When you say, veg based pellets do you mean algae? or like some other kind? I want to feed him silver sides, but he is still pretty small. When I hand feed him it was like a little strip of tilapia.

Lost track of this thread; nice to see it still going. The hand-feed video is exactly what was needed, more useful and interesting than another goldfish-down-the-hatch one.

My apologies if my earlier comments were taken as "disheartening", wasn't the intention. I just wanted to suggest a move in this direction, i.e. actually doing and documenting something new, useful, and in all likelihood healthier for the fish. Judging from the apparent size of your gulper, it should be able to easily handle silversides now; they are very slender and elongated, with no inconvenient spines or projections. Actually a pretty poor design, if your goal is to avoid being eaten, since they slide down like a cold beer on a hot day...:)

They gutload very easily; a small slit in the abdomen, and several pellets, tablets, etc. can be tucked inside. Best to push them into the opening and then back towards the tail; when the fish is swallowed headfirst, this prevents them from popping out as the body is squeezed into the predator's mouth. Algae tabs would work great. I've also filled gelatin capsules with powdered supplements...more for reptiles than for fish...and they are a convenient way to load this type of substance into a silversides, earthworm, shrimp, etc.
