Ik I sadly had to start all over again. Moved my breeding pair off to their new tank just to have the female kill the male that was almost twice her size. So now I have to wait till 2 of my 3 large angels pair off and start to breed. So far it looks like I might a pair in the makes between the original black marble female and this silver zebra that I think is a male. It's got a very noticable kok so I'm hoping it's male.

I am a believer that angel fry need live food initially. I found after about 10 days I could start mixing frozen cyclops in with the live BBS and the angels in their feeding frenzy would eat them. Every day after that I decresed the live portion and increased the frozen and had them off of live in a week. I was quickly convinced I did not want to breed angels as I was getting 100s of eggs/spawn.

I was told by folks who did breed angels that I would need 2 x 55 gal. tanks for each breeding pair to house their fry. They also suggested a large fish to which I could feed the angel culls of which there would be many. That is why I never became an angel breeder.
Life food is def the best option but so far my angels are eating egg yolk super well and most casualties are from the filter and not the food. For me I just didn’t have the time to get live food and wanted to give it a shot since I really have nothing to lose and Rn they seem to be doing alright. Nice angels btw.

Damn that sucks. Good luck! My marble/koi angels spawned again but I won’t be pulling the eggs this time since If even 30 percent of the fry I have rn I would have too many and need to start giving them away lol.

Live Baby Brine Shrimp (BBS) if it hasnt been said. Nothing compares.

Been hard into angels this year having raised multiple clutches for wholesale and BBS all day! Its a total pain in the ass to manage every day but I swear you will see double if not more the rate of growth. My BBS clutch compaired to First Bites / Yolks were night and day, the BBS tank seemed to grow almost daily with the First Bite tank was so slow after 2 solid weeks and so far behind I moved them to BBS as well. Quality of the fish also shows, better color and pearlescents faster.

Worst thing about it was that male took over 8 months for me to grow out big enough to breed. He was the oldest angel I had atm.

I got 6 angels still so I should be able to get another breeding pair again at some point. Going to have to wait for another 6-8 months for 3 of em to grow big enough, they are still dime sized body wise.
Yeah angels take a while lol. I have 8 adult angels and 3 pairs so hopefully they yield more babies
