I am new at monsterfishkeepers and would like to share the development of my Kalimantan Super Red Arowana.
Background info:
Personally I am a big fan of those Super Red Arowanas but unfortunately I was not able to get those Quality Super reds due to money constraints.
So I bought those Super Reds at the size of approx. 5-6 inch (cheaper) and after 3-4 years I always ended up with a Super red with only orange colour but not RED, I mean REAL RED colour without the fancing lights = frustration again and again!
So I started to look for quality Super Red Arowanas at larger sizes so it was possible to see the quality. Months passed, till one day I was able to find him - THE ONE!
Reasons why I bagged THIS ONE:
- Super broad body with neatly arranged big scales
- powerful silver metallic blue shining scales
- long straight barbles
- Spoon head
- Ultralong pec fins
- full perlies alreay visible
- perfect bite
- no defects like PLJ or drop eye
The start of the journey of his development shows the size when I bought that little bugger in August 2020 till now:
August 2020: 20 cm / 8 inch
...
May 2021: 40 cm / 15 inch
diet: small fish, mussels, superworms, shrimps, crickets...
No Tanning done yet. Starting to pump him so he will grow to a monster
Pictures taken with Samsung S6 or LUMIX with 4000 Kelvin and NO artificial red colour enhancing light/tanning lights!
Enjoy...
August 2020 - pick up at the store (exceptional broad body with neatly arranged scales which catched my eyes)
September 2020 - 1 month at home
September 2020 with sunlight - showing the silver blue metallic shine of the scales
Dec 2020 - orange colour at the cheeks
May 2021 - only small development so far
