Hey all,

today I went to pick up a tank from someone getting out of the hobby and they had 3 goldfish in the tank. Tank was def neglected and with further inspection bringing the fish home, two of them seem to have some white fleshy bumpy lumps on body. One is on the gill plate, another on its side. I did a quick google search and seems to maybe be a cyst or tumor? Any ideas on how to treat? I have salt on hand and I'm making sure they get clean water, but want an expert opinion on this!

Thanks again!
Ray

Don’t look like a cyst. May be tumor but doesn’t look like it. Wouldn’t treat until you know what it is

Looks to be a tumor. It looks like it is a ‘second brain’, and watching many MANY exotic get shows, it is probably a tumor. I’ve watched fish surgeries, and you either get the surgically removed, or euthanize. You need to get it ‘tested’ if you want it to live, because it could be Benine, or cancerous. This is all if it is a tumor. Ron would definitely know better than me.

yeah gonna try to give them clean water and hope for the best. Hopefully others who have dealt with this chime in! Thanks!

It’s possibly a tumor but it could also be lymphocystis. Just give them clean water and lots of water changes. Add antibiotics if it gets infected.

Don’t think it’s a tumor. What are the odds of two goldfish having tumors. They aren’t contagious (I think). If anything I say it’s lymph

Could be tumors. Wouldn’t say cysts.

I rescued three goldfish that all have these about 3 years ago. Three years later and they still have yet to lose these 'tumors'. The goldfish are supposedly around 16 years old. hasnt caused any issues for me
