Fortunately a friend contacted me recently asking if I’d be interested in his b.fila. Fish from the only batch that came into the uk a few years back.

this means a new tank will now be needed for the fish room. I’ve just priced a 17000L vat with viewing window. So that will be Decembers job.
Fish is around the 22” mark.
Currently in the 10,000L all glass tank system.

Looks like this might be from Suriname. It has that sleek head look... and seems like that green glare as well. Did you get details about origin?

Yes. It came from Suriname. As listed in the title. I think they might be the best looking fila out of all the other catch locations.

I missed that part :) I have a friend who got one of the first ones from Suriname in the states. He got it to over 3ft fairly quickly before losing it to a virus

That’s a shame. I have noticed they tend to grow the fastest to a large Size, compared to the Peru and others.

Quite Interested to see how big they actually

Had no idea the piraiba was even in the trade. You learn something new every day.

7/8 years or so there’s been a steady incline of them. At first, all you used to see what b.capa listed as fila. Now, you don’t see any b.capa at all! Not this side of the pond any ways!

I think Viktor has the largest B. Fila in the states right now.
I’d say in the world. I’m yet to see a larger fila in captivity. That’s excluding public aquariams.
Mine seems to have being quite aggressive, he’s “upsetting the apple cart” so to speak.
Fortunatly, I have a 10x4x3 glass tank going on this month. Just awaiting the glass to be finished cutting.
Strange behaviour for a fila. He’s had a right go at the pati, even managed to out a rip in his tail. Nothing exceeding bad, although that pati is quite an annoying fish so to speak around the other fish. He’s now learning to avoid the fila. They have a large enough fort print in here for now. (12x4)
