Doesn't look like fading. Discolouration may be a sign of disease or stress.

That’s my thoughts. Stress can cause color to temporarily fade.you don’t notice any other spots?

I fed him and he head stringy poop. That was clear with chunks of reddish brown but it also looked like a hair.

It could be a sign or parasites or just an empty stomach(the white stuff is the lining on the stomach). Is he eating?

Nope he is not fading. He looks very stressed. test water parameters.

stringy poop and belly looks sunken in. Likely internal parasites. Most likely brought on by stress from poor water quality. Did you get better filter media? How has your waterchange schedule been as of late?
