Something other than clown loaches.

Yes, exactly the same here, and the one fish they really didn’t like was my skunk. The modesta couldn’t be bothered with them and seemed to view them as unworthy tank mates whenever the eos tried to join in, although the modesta were considerably larger.

About the only photos I can get of the eos are whilst moving them.
I can sort of get photos of the yoyo (reticulated)

Yet to come across a truly “aggressive” loach although the eos are really close, but I only keep loaches in groups in larger tanks and with lots of hideouts and what I would consider “suitable tank mates”.
Love the reticulated yoyos in particular! I agree that the key to tuning down the attitude of the more feisty loaches (regardless of whether or not they are truly aggressive) is a sufficiently big and decorated tank, since they can get away from tankmates+each other when they have to, as well as vice versa.

Does anyone have any dojos? I had one that hung out in my floating water sprite. He chilled out in that stuff for hours at a time. Something killed him while I was at work one day. Never discovered the culprit. But he was cool. My kids named him noodle.

Just check this thread in July-August of 2022, you won't be disappointed (especially if you like the golden variety). Take a look at my signature.

Just picked up some more loaches today. Here are the dwarf chain loaches I've been talking about getting for a while - picked them up as part of the Boxing Day deals.
By the looks of it, these are the first dwarf chain loach photos in this thread. They went in my 110 liter with my neon tetras because they'd almost certainly become >$50 pictus catfish (and possibly clown loach) lunch in the 473 liter.

And my newest black kuhli loach that I also picked up today, to increase my shoal size from 5 to 6. The last 2 pictures are taken from the 'Colombian pictus catfish photos' thread since they showcase the black kuhli surprisingly well.

Nice pickup! That second dwarf chain looks a little thin. Or are they just built like that?

Thanks! Yeah, that second dwarf chain is suspiciously thin. That's something I really only fully noticed after some post-photo inspection between then and when you commented, so i'm going to be returning it and getting a plumper specimen tomorrow.

Make that all of them, as several appeared to be in poor condition and I didn't want to chance things. Once I find healthy specimens for sale, photos will be shared.
