When I came back into the hobby 7 years ago I had a liking for big fish so I filled my tanks up with lots of juvenile monster fish. RTGG, tinfoil, lemonfin, cigar barbs and bala sharks. I've had a couple of casualties in that time but most of them are all still with me.....only a lot lot bigger!

The past 12 months or so has seen my goals change a little. I like the look of smaller to medium sized fish now but never thought, due to the age my fish can achieve, that they would be dying off anytime soon. And I never thought that I would ever get someone to adopt them....until just very recently!

Fishman Dave Fishman Dave lives just over the hill from me and just a couple of months ago he took my old 180 from me, doing me a big favour. Just recently I tentatively asked him if he was up for taking some fish from me, and he said that he would!

So tomorrow, if everything goes to plan, he will be coming over to take five fish from me. My lemonfin barb(15"), a tinfoil barb(11") and three cigar barbs(12-14"). They will be going in Dave's pond, which is way bigger than my 360.

It will be a sad day watching them go, but they're going to a more suitably sized home, and those fish leaving has given me other options, which I'm already on with.

Goodbye my scaly friends, you have given me a lot of pleasure, and no doubt their parting gift to me will be to absolutely drench me wet through when I net them out in the morning, lol.

First off give yourself some praise ? for taking such great care of them. You are doing the right thing like you said more room and fish will enjoy swimming in the pond.

One more question. You had mentioned a couple times that all those big fish made the 1363 liter pretty crowded.
Just how crowded would it be if you plugged it into AqAdvisor? https://aqadvisor.com/

Very crowded! Certainly overstocked.....and with a crazy water change schedule to boot, fin level every two days!

Another added bonus of this process is that even when I start adding more fish, my water change schedule will never be as crazy as it is now, phew!

Give us a hint for new fish!
Borneo red fin silver sharks (Cyclocheilichthys janthochir), six of.

And red tail barbs (Discherodontus ashmeadi), eight of.

The new additions will give me an Asian themed com tank. I currently have a giant gourami, clown loach, bala sharks, filament barbs and beardless barbs.

The new guys will reach about 6-8" if what I've read is accurate. I have all 12 now in quarantine with lights off to let them adjust. They're already feeding lightly. So far so good.

Once these fish are added that will be it for my 360. My previous water change schedule was absolutely crazy, I'm not going there again.

Oh, and those 12 new fish cost me the best part of £200!!!

Really don't want to burst your bubble, but you'll be right back there in 20 years or so. 11 fully grown clown loaches, even in a 1363 liter, is one heck of a big bioload from fish that are intolerant of dirty water.
That doesn't take into account the bala sharks and gourami either, both of which also have a high bioload and the first an intolerance to dirty water.

Nonetheless, sounds like an awesome theme tank!

Oh yes, I'm well aware of the bio load increasing over time. And my water change schedule will shift with this increase.

But there's no way those growing clown loach, or the other fish for that matter, will ever come close to putting out the same bio load as the five greedy beasts I'm rehoming. Even my giant gourami doesn't put out that much. He's adult and his diet has decreased over time.
