honestly I don't have livebearer experience myself. My platy's crap all over the tank over and over again nonstop. Some love them, but I don't. Never kept any mollies.

The are related to Aro's!yeah the Bichirs are too small as of now, I wont risk it. When they grow I will consider tho, they are such cool fish and as far as I have heard are actually related to Arowanas (?) , either way they look like some modified pocket sized Arowana. Got to wait before I get one tho unless I find a really small one. Also is it normal for my Senegals to hang out around the top where there are floating plants ? They love to place themselves on the roots and just stay like that and I believe they do it at nights too since every morning when I turn the lights on they are there.
oh yeah I know that ! Read about it when I was researching about them 2 years ago. I also saw them gulp air occasionaly. The are related to Aro's!
Your Bichirs do that because they are developing lungs. Bichirs are one of the few fish that have lungs! It is thought that they were developed for Bichirs to survive in non-oxygenated stagnant water. Right now they have external gills which helps with oxygen until their lungs develop. Below are lungs highlighted in yellow. The right one is the largest one.
Wow! Never knew that about the polys - these guys continue to amaze me (I gotta get one…)!The are related to Aro's!

I see, I will rehome the shark the moment I see agression then. I will look into Swordtails and Mollies. Got some research to do on those guys.I have guppies, gambusia, and mollies. I used to have swords and platies. Platies max out a bit to small for comfort. Mollies and swords are in the 3-4 inch range so a bit better. Mollies come in nice colors too - I have a pure white one, a gold and black one, and an orange and white one. Lots of poop but super good algae eaters (and the fry is extra bichir food).
My shark wasn’t terrible. They are the worst with similar bodied fish, but it just seems like too much a risk imo. I see a shark picking a fight and then a bichir choking on a shark.

got all of those except the bigger tanks sadly. Got good quality food AND liquid testing kits. Sadly cant afford the tanks tho.Hello! Welcome! the two albino Senegal should be good in the 40 gal or a 55g for a year or more. However, 75 gal minimum is considered best practice and suggested for long-term health, growth, and longevity. If you don't already have a liquid water testing kit, would advise purchasing one....especially as they get bigger. Bichirs can produce lots of Nitrates, so as they get bigger, you'll have to be diligent with the water changes.
Would definitely recommend a high-quality pellet: Hikari Carnivore, Hikari Cichlid Gold, New Life Spectrum sinking pellets etc. Another great staple to rotate with the pellet would be tilapia. Of course, variety is even better, but those are the best staples, but please do include treats or other foods! Blood worms are good as a treat, but I have heard some people feeding them to young bichirs as well.
As far as tank mates, I like the African Butterfly idea, you could also try a few dithers like Congo tetras if you are going for a biome tank. In my tank with my senegal ( and other bichirs) I currently have congo tetras and giant danios. However, you can look for something you'd want to keep. Would suggest a schooling fish to balance out the tank. Would not go with catfish or loaches. As previously mentioned, you don't want the fish to be able to eat the bichir or for the fish to be able to fit in the bichir's mouth. For mollies/platies I'm not sure what their bioload is specifically compared to tetras and danios, etc.
Actually had one snag a Tetra couldn't believe it. The Butterfly fish did release the Tetra.Never heard of Butterflyfish eating a bichir
Yes one of my favorites the Polypterus.I have guppies, gambusia, and mollies. I used to have swords and platies. Platies max out a bit to small for comfort.
