If it was imported, the overseas vendor would have supplied whatever brand/name they assigned to the fish. Seems like an odd fish for someone to import.

I agree but I bought it for $15 so I wasn’t too concerned if he was telling the truth. I do see the parrot resemblance now that you pointed it out. I will likely keep it solo as it seems too aggressive to be with some of my other hybrids.

Perhaps but maybe they got ripped off and wanted a KKP.

I have went ahead and removed the divider just to see what would happen. Now the behaviour points to female as the SRD is coloured right up as so has she, male trying to lead to the claypot tray. I will place the divider back and keep trying to see if it is actually a female. If it is fertile that opens up a few possibilities.

I have a female parrot cross that looks a lot like this fish, and she can be hyper aggro at times. Damn near killed an adult male carpintis when they first paired off, then settled down over time. They have bred numerous times, but I let the loaches eat the eggs or any fry that survive.

I noticed you just let the fry be snacks, have you raised any to see what they'd look like?

I had one fry survive in a rock pile for 3 or 4 months maybe, then eventually it got too smart or curious for its own good. I even added extra rocks to the pile, and directed crushed food down to the spot, in the hopes that it might survive long term. If I get a survivor I might fire up my 90 again.

This fish turned out to be female, I placed it my male SRM. Very intense together, she is a third of his size and gave him the run around. Laid eggs but nothing came of it as he is infertile. She will be going with a male carpintis to see what happens
