I am trying to reduce my tank temperature to 78. One problem I seem to be having is getting it down. The ambient room temp is 72. I raised the lids last night and left the ceiling fan on, I cut off the tidal off because it has a pump that sits in the water, and heater was unplugged. The temp of tank decreased from 82.4 to 81.4. The shades stay closed in the room where the tank sits and the window in the room faces is the side of my neighbor's house, so there is no blazing sun hitting the room. Do you have any suggestions to get the tank to 78?

Just leave be don't have to raise the lids. Leave the heater unplugged.
I assume you already know that a 75 gal tank is inadequate for a full grown adult oscar, unless you are willing to do almost daily, fin level water changes when it reaches that size.
I expect the 75 will become inadequate at about one year or so, because the oscars waste output will tend to overwhelm water quality rather quickly (using nitrate as an indicator) in such a small tank, and promote HITH disease as nitrate and other untestable nutrients build up.
This especially becomes relevant if your water is hard/mineral rich.

Manually lower it by removing some water and replacing it with cooler fresh water. It should be easier to stabilise it around 78 -79 for you then, the aquarium is probably insulating a degree or so. The ambient temperature probably isn't low enough to cool the water down to where you want it. This will also show whether you need a cooler if the temperature naturally raises too high without the heater on.
