I am getting a 40 gallon tank In a few days and I want to stock it with some predatory native fish. I want there to be a green sunfish in it but I would want to get more fish than that. Does anyone have any ideas for it.

Are you up north by any chance? One of the coolest little native fish here in NJ are sculpin. I see them all the time river fishing. They look like a goby, they scoot in and out of the bigger chunk rocks. I have no idea how to go about getting them or how they would do in a tank. I would check the laws in your area to be safe also.
40 gallon is pretty small for most of the Lepomis species. greens get about a foot.
I'd look at smaller species from the genus Elassoma
or a bigger tank
also be mindful of your states laws, there are quite a few states where it is illegal to keep natives.

I live in Florida but I would be able to get some fish from more up north on some online fish stores like jonahsaquariums.
Yeah not native but they do seem really cool. Do you know any place where I can get one
