I have a 150 gallon tank 2 fx6 canisters and an ac110 I’m going this week to pick up 1-2 inch juveniles and am wondering how many I should get to have my end number be about 7 or 8 adults down the road from them killing each other

Thank you. Ok sounds good I’ll go for that number just didn’t know how many would end up dying in the process of becoming adults and wanted them all to come up together without having to add. Worst case if too many survive give them back to the store around me they specialize in piranha
I agree that 10-12 is a good number.
They are very resilient fish, so I can’t imagine health will be so big an issue as aggression and cannibalism will be.
Either way, with any schooling fish a good rule of thumb is to get more than you actually want long term.
