Enough waiting around. The fish I got are Platinum Senegal Bichirs from Woww Aquatics LLC. The owner Ben was amazing and super accommodating. Would recommend checking him out. His store is being set up in Ohio and will be open in the coming months.

I originally purchased 6-8 inch Platinum Senegal Bichir, but Ben was nice enough to send me a second smaller one. Although the second one seems to be missing it’s two pectoral fins, looks like the bone is still intact and should grow back hopefully. If not, can’t complain since it was a bonus addition :).

Nice fish, and a smart move on the part of the seller. He gained a lot of brownie points with a new customer, using a fish that likely nobody would have been satisfied to pay for otherwise.

How does the little one get around without pectorals? Fish rely on their pectorals for much of their maneuverability and control, and bichirs seem to also use them somewhat for basic locomotion. I sorta kinda tend to think that the seller may have kept this one long enough to satisfy himself that those fins are not growing back. The fish seems well-fed and healthy otherwise.

But, hey, nowadays the more misshapen the fish the better; you might be able to start a new trend. Who would bother to buy a short-body or platinum or longfin bichir...when they can get one that has been circumcised! :)

Yeah smart business person, but also a great dude to work with. Def surpassed my expectations even if it was just the larger fish (especially at the price point!). The little one so far kind of just sits there and waddles around gonna either separate him or target feed. Regardless I have a soft spot for disabled animals so "stumpy" will have a good life :).

Will keep updating this thread. Hoping to grow the larger one out and get it chunkier and add it with my normal senegal collection!
