I am also down to four total fire eels. One died unexpectedly not really sure why. I also had to remove one that is getting picked on. So there are thee in the tank now. I will move the fourth back after a few months in a different tank by himself.

Amazing
Phat n happy!,
My compliments
What do you feed them ?
How long have you had them and at what size?
They are eating cut up frozen tilapia mixed with NLS pellets and Vita Chem mixed in. I let it sit in a large cup mixed up for 30 mins or so then dump it in. Then everyone eats so fast that the eels end up getting a bunch of the pellets. The pellets also smell like the fish this way.

They were so small I could not find one of the eels one time. I took the eheim canister filter apart because I though he was small enough to fit in the intake strainer. He was not in there fortunately, he was just hiding in a plant or something.

Well I am down to three fire reels now that were in the original group of five in the last six months the four that are left have been battling it out in the 600 and I’ve had to move one or two of them in and out of the tank when they were getting beat up too bad I had one solo in my 125 that was getting beat up. He was in there a few months on easy Street and I finally decided I wanted to move him back to the 600 with the rest. when I moved him in there I knew there was gonna be some violence , and he got picked on pretty good for a day or two and then they left him alone completely but the top of his back tail was completely white from where he had been bitten from the other fire reels ultimately on the third or fourth night he was gone so now I’m down to three fire eels and the last three seem to be getting along fairly well and the biggest one who is significantly bigger than the other two is not the dominant fire eel, one of the others and even though they can’t bite and have no teeth, they can still pester each other enough or at least enough stress the other ones out leading to death so for years I had them all in the 600 and they did great but over the last six months I’ve lost one to fighting and stress . Down to three
